Martin Brudnizki Unveils Revamp of London Social ClubWill Speros • April 18, 2018
London- and New York-based design firm has completed its redesign of the social club in the Mayfair neighborhood of London. Relocated down the block from its original location, the decadent, 26,000-square-foot venue is home to a nightclub, restaurant, cigar lounge, outdoor terrace, and several rooms for work or relaxation.
Guests are welcomed by a pagoda installed beneath the grand Georgian staircase. Plaster panels are painted with imagery of fruit and florals alongside a marble fireplace flanked by two oversized crystal candelabras. The ground floor also houses the main eatery, the Garden Room, which features a pastoral mural by British artist Gary Myatt, while the subterranean nightclub is appointed with glass palm trees as well as a bar with crocodile skin wrapping its face. Animal print fabrics adorn corridor walls, which are punctuated with arched, intimate nooks.
Upstairs, more foliage and Indian scenery are captured in wallcoverings against a backdrop of original moldings and plasterwork. A women’s restroom and powder room embraces the refresh’s floral theme with handmade silk flowers lining the ceiling and blossom-shaped wall lamps that complement gold-framed mirrors and pink onyx sink basins. Annabel’s garden terrace includes a retractable roof for added comfort.
